Last night the Cubs did lots of arty things with a nature connection.

These were:
- making a poster of the flora and fauna of the woodland ramble last week
- drawing a landscape (some photos provided, but memories allowed)
- designing a plant label
- making a number banner with dead leaves

The last one will be used at a local venue’s anniversary event.

This Nature Sorting activity teaches symmetry in a simple way 🌿

Scouts sort pictures by matching sides. This builds observation and thinking skills πŸ™‚

It works for all ages and can be done indoors or outside πŸ”

Tiger Curiosity, Intrigue, and Magical Mysteries helps Tigers learn through fun 🎩

They practice magic tricks and perform for others. This builds confidence and communication skills πŸ™‚

β€œMy Turtle Swims Sideways” is a fun song for Scouts πŸ™‚

It is easy to learn and works well at campfires or meetings. The motions help everyone take part.

Some verses may not fit every group. Leaders can adjust as needed 😊

Focus on fun, inclusion, and group spirit πŸ‘

I was gifted the misplaced Mario Hat this week.

And Mar10 is a Cubs Night next year.

So I know what the Meeting theme is already.

#TrailJam for our group - five #scouts and #cubscouts hiked with me from Stanwell Tops to Coalcliff Lookout

Last night the Pack went on a ramble in nearby woods. They identified flora, fauna, fungi and trees on Woodland Trust checklists we gave them.

As we walked we talked about and questioned the Cubs about various outdoors matters, often as we came upon them, related to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code so we could tick off Countryside Code badge requirements.

Nothing rises the Cub Scout spirit as high as with a campfire.

(One of the new ones asked β€œA do I do now? Put it back in the box?” after lighting his first ever match)

The Wolf Paws on the Path adventure helps Cub Scouts build outdoor confidence 🌲

This den meeting includes games, teamwork, and a nature walk. Scouts learn the Six Essentials, the buddy system, and how to dress for the weather.

They also practice respecting nature through the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace. It is a fun way to prepare Scouts for future outdoor adventures 🐾
