The European Central Bank selected OVHcloud and Scaleway for the digital euro payment infrastructure. Only EU-headquartered cloud providers were eligible. AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud excluded entirely. Sovereignty as procurement policy.

@gahms just to be clear, whether its 5 or 35 is not really meaningful to the services i run on that. what is meaningful is that they bring/force you into the latter. Dark patterns and I don’t want to work with companies doing such 🤷‍♀️
Sole reason #scaleway is a non option/recommendation for me anymore.

@simonbs I'm running my website and stuff (like irc.noze.io) on a tiny VM on #Scaleway for some 10+ years. Worked well for me (they originally attracted me w/ cheap $3/m 4-core ARM based dedicated servers). I use their "S3" for SwiftPM Catalog.
But recently they killed my tiny-VM tier ($5/m) and apparently the only "automatic" transition was to a $35/m instance. I wasn't amused. Probably going to switch away over that. To Hetzner I suppose.

    Had some big outage because of… Scaleway ?
    The egress for my K3S cluster is hosted there and was for some reason unavailable

    I will have to track the logs, but not being able to login the main console to hard reboot the instance didn’t help

    Time to bring that multi ingress dns rotating k8s operator project out of the forgejo limbo

    Hurrah! Just built a #Scaleway CPU instance from scratch and configured it with our #Ansible tools. Pleased with that. A few kinks to iron out, but we're pretty close now. 😎
