Little experiment with Spring Cloud Functions on Scaleway Function Containers. Project supports two docker builds. JVM JAR based and GraalVM Native based. On a very cheap container the spin up of the JVM Docker took 42!! seconds and the GraalVM only took 396 ms with half of the memory consumption. Great success.

As of today I am actively supporting a European based cloud service provider.

I finished migrating my cloud projects from Digital Ocean to #scaleway

And you know what? It wasn't hard at all.

1/2 A recent cloud migration left me with some already paid-for dedicated hardware for a few weeks, in this case an entry-level server from Scaleway (Dedibox Start-9-M).

Since the hardware was already there, I used the time to get some performance numbers for a typical PostgreSQL database workload, and ran the same tests against comparable AWS RDS setups.

So the Paris DCs at #Scaleway just shit the bed for about 10 minutes. Incident report says power issues, smells to me like something didn't failover like it should've done... 😬
