Some years ago, I bought some corms #SaffronCrocus #CrocusSativus and put them in a free draining potting mix into a largish terracotta pot.
Not a single one came up.
As @Redducks I would appreciate advice from successful growers.
Thanks!
Crocus Sativus aka Saffron Crocus.
I’m growing my saffron in a cold frame this year to prevent squirrels from relocating the bulbs.
I was shocked when I discovered the blooms yesterday (11/15) because I wasn’t expecting them for a few more weeks (the bulbs were planted on 10/29). Dozens more are still tiny sprouts; you can see some of the bits of green in the photo.
IMPORTANT: the red stigmas are the only edible part. The rest of the plant is poisonous, including the bulbs, sprouts, stems, leaves and flowers.
