@rl_dane it took #Roy a long time to trust me touching his rear legs. Particularly his rear paws. Easy to understand why, when you have your hand touching the paw, you can trap it instantly. But Roy didn't even flinch or twitch today, and started stretching his legs and toes as he let go.
This has proved to be a really good way for him to let his tensions go. We did this a lot when he got sick last year when he went off his antibiotics and started getting better. We'd hold paw-hands for hours.
#Roy again holding hands with me on #Caturday, he still has tensions to release. I can also tell because he will twitch as the tensions let go.
But he's relaxing, as the second picture shows,that was a few days ago and he kept rolling over happily. Unfortunately my camera is too slow and he only stays on his back a second, so I always catch him right after.
Roy is a dude, especially outside, but loves being able to unwind, so when stress stops him it's noticeable.

Sometimes #Roy has a lot on his mind and we have to hold paws/hands until he unwinds. This #Caturday was no exception. Without getting into details he's not wrong to be worried. His tail tip, which is semi-autonomous, like an octopus tentacle, also was resting against my wrist. We've worked out this non verbal way of communicating over years, he will hold my hand a long time if he's got a lot on his mind, then when he's done he usually turns around.
Here's #Roy on #Caturday exploring his green patch. He was looking for grasses to graze on I think. The rock provides a good perch.
Plus more neighborhood cat action. A mean gray tabby that picks fights with local cats. Roy and it were having strong words, and were ready to escalate. Roy has an odd behavior: his fur never rises up when he confronts other cats, almost as if he's saying: I don't need to look bigger! I'm already big! He is. I hissed away the gray cat.
