Main Man by Oliver Sain, released on Abet in 1972.

Oliver Sain Jr. (March 1, 1932 – October 28, 2003)[1] was an American saxophonist, songwriter, bandleader, drummer and record producer, who was an important figure in the development of rhythm and blues music, notably in St Louis, Missouri.

He set up his own recording studio, Archway, in St Louis in 1965, and recorded and produced artists such as the Montclairs and Julius Hemphill, developing "a distinctively full, dynamic sound that would come to help define the St. Louis soul aesthetic." He released his first album, Main Man, in 1972.. - Wikipedia

This week's #TuneTuesday theme is #DentistsAndTeeth. The first thing that came into my mind is Dinah Washington's ode to her dentist, who she would like to visit every day:

Dinah Washington: Long John Blues (1949)

The song was issued as the flip side of "Baby Get Lost", one of Washington's #1 R&B hits, but it also charted on its own, peaking at #3 on the Billboard R&B Jukebox chart.

Musical Interlude: After that flower painting, how about a song about bees? And performed by an R&B great who doesn't get enough love?

"Bumblebee," performed by LaVern Baker.

JR. WALKER AND THE ALL-STARS
Shotgun
1965 U.S. MONO pressing

Another great one that ALSO feels right for a Friday afternoon.

Quite simply one of the COOLEST sounding records ever.
Absolutely essential funky, soulful R&B rock.

The whole album is so great, but “Shotgun” is in a class all by itself. And to think it almost DIDN’T happen.

It was Jr. Walker’s first song as a vocalist, and it only happened because the singer that was hired to sing it at the recording session didn’t even show up!
Jr. stood in, and Berry Gordy liked it so much he kept it, much to the world’s benefit.

The song is ONE CHORD, and it’s one of the greatest tunes ever.
