Why did the #Catholic #Church only do the #Mass in #Latin until 1962? It was a language few people spoke except the very educated. The Church didn't even allow vernacular translations of the #Bible until the #Reformation forced their hand. Did people in #medieval Europe go to church every Sunday just to hear chanting in a language they didn't understand? How did they learn the #gospel? Was it like a situation with the #Quran and #Arabic? Why then didn't the priests teach everyone #Latin?
