I read The War Of The Worlds when I was 12 years old and there í found the idea of invasive species with the description Wells makes of the #RedWeed in chapter 2 of the second part of the book
Red #Weed replaces all local vegetation in a very short time
Wells also mentions a "red creeper" that was unable to colonize the habitats.
