“But I’ve argued, with my collaborator Victor Kumar, that there’s a distinct #reducetarian path: most people should imperfectly reduce their #consumption of #animal #products.” daily.jstor.org/joshua-may-a...

It's World Farm Animals Day! Thank you from every last piece of my heart to each person who is helping farmed animals and the planet by eating less meat and dairy, or of course, no meat and dairy. https://nationaltoday.com/world-farm-animals-day/ #worldfarmanimalsday #animals #vegan #vegetarian #reducetarian #plantbased #climate
World Farm Animals Day

World Farm Animals Day seeks to ensure that all farms, irrespective of their purpose, provide a safe home for animals.

EATING PLANTS! "While it is well established that producing meat has a bigger environmental footprint than plant-based food, it has never been calculated in such detail: a big meat-eater's diet produces an average of 10.24 kg of planet-warming greenhouse gasses each day. A low meat-eater produces almost half that at 5.37 kg per day. And for vegan diets - it's halved again to 2.47 kg a day." #climate #climatecrisis #food #plantbased #vegan #vegetarian #reducetarian https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-66238584
Eating less meat ‘like taking 8m cars off road’

A new Oxford University study pinpoints for the first time how high- and low-meat diets impact the planet.

Are you a #climavore, #reducetarian, or #climatarian? Manufacturers, restaurants, and supermarkets are now catering to the demand for lower-carbon choices: packaging, ingredients air freighted, and foods that are environmentally damaging to produce.

Thought this would make a nice snow day meal and stay in line with my #Reducetarian goals. It’s a super quick mushroom & kale pasta. I used chickpea pasta and loads of #garlic. Even the 8 year old ate it!

Copenhagen's Noma restaurant will close in '24. Creative + visionary, or cruel? Would you eat these animals and call it fine dining? My answer is probably not a mystery. "If what tickles your tastebuds for supper is duck brain served in the skull, edible pine cones, sweetbreads in reindeer moss and dried plum and pheasant heart followed by a berry-leather and black-garlic beetle, you’d better get a move on." #plantbased #vegan #reducetarian #food #futureoffood #Copenhagen https://www.theguardian.com/food/2023/jan/13/danish-restaurant-noma-makes-way-for-food-lab
‘We have to rethink the industry’: fine dining’s future in doubt as Noma calls it a day

Closure of ‘world’s best restaurant’ raises questions over future of such rarefied – and expensive - fine dining establishments

I am using this morning's 2 hour school delay to start The #Reducetarian Solution because one of my goals this year is to eat less meat. Over the years I’ve had brief periods of going #vegetarian and a small moment trying to be #vegan but I can't quite turn the corner. This collection of essays covers three areas that benefit when we reduce our meat consumption: mind, body and planet and seems so far to generally take Michael Pollan's advice to “eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”
