I think the #RainbowMap is the perfect answer to the question why #LGBTQIA+ activism is still neccessary in 2024 "even in Western countries". The numbers clearly show that it's still a far cry from true #equality.
"The West" might be overall better in #queer rights, but that doesn't mean it can pat itself on the back. There are no bonus points for being *less* discriminatory.

The top improvers are 🇮🇸 #Iceland (+12) and 🇩🇪 #Germany (+11). The biggest loser is 🇲🇪 #Montenegro with -13 percentage points compared to 2023.
Zero countries have a perfect score of 100%.
🇲🇹 #Malta is on rank 1 with 88%, but lost a few points compared to 2023.
🇷🇺 #Russia is last with 2%, worse than even 2023. It's very hostile to queers.
