The map can help understand a local mesh setup and the role of propagation nodes, the audio channels and so on. Pressing "announce" on a node shows up in the map in real time. This is shown also in these videos https://youtube.com/shorts/zt1yB5kgiV4?si=x6AmIr53i7NV59Uz

Also, if you are in #Melbourne and interested in #Reticulum I have placed an #RNode at friends place on Mt Toolebewong, with the same settings as Brisbane and Western Sydney. Good LoS to a wide swath of Melbourne.

(I put a #Meshcore repeater up too 😊... and yes I've also put up some card to block some light to mitigate overheating)

Anyone out there experimenting with Reticulum? Building RNodes?

We put together a FREE GUIDE just for fun. 👉 Building a working Reticulum node from off-the-shelf hardware.

Built a test network using the #Reticulum stack over two #LoRa #rnode, (Heltec V4)
I even managed a phone call!

Took some time to play a little with #reticulum and #nomadnet

It was a lot more accessible than I thought, and it really feels like what Internet should be

Could also play with #rnode and #ratdeck and those are very well integrated in the framework

This won't change my comitment to meshcore though

Off sick and working on my #cyberdeck in between fits of coughing and sneezes.

Just added an #RNode to the build, which means it can use long-range radio (LoRa) to send and receive messages and browse the NomadNet (a sort of alternative internet).

All thanks for #Reticulum.

#ClaudeCode on my laptop machine can, after a couple of pop-ups, see below, #ssh into my #pizero and monkey around with it..... not bad. The pi zero #lora #rnode is connected to the laptop via a hotspot that the pi zero generates to serve #reticulum #meshchat. The laptop is connected to that hotspot via a dedicated wifi dongle TP-Link Archer T3U Plus AC1300 for dual wifi https://amzn.eu/d/04oLHUGr (running nixos but works for any device with browser). #raspberrypizero info https://loramesh.org/subpages/piboxnode/build_pi_box.html
I have an Acer laptop in the loft running a #lora #rnode on #reticulum and #meshchat on #nixos since over 200 days and it still works. So Nixos was stable did not fail for over 200 days. For info about Reticulum etc. one can consult https://loramesh.org
