Hey #Reticulum people, is #rnode really inactive at the moment and if so, what can I use on my heltec V3 instead to use the #reticulumnetwork ?
@pocketvj
I'm aware of meshcore and meshtastic and operate some nodes for them. But reticulum offers some possibilities that neither of both have. And as far as I know I can't use meshcore with the reticulumnetwork (which was my question).
@dexternemrod
sorry then, i misunderstood your question..
hope someone will keep developing #reticulum so it gets usable with heltecs...

@pocketvj
No worries 😉

It is usable, but the only "easy" usable implementation I found was Rnode which seems to have no active developement. We will see how it continues.

@dexternemrod @pocketvj Not sure what you mean with Rnode nor what the previous post meant about heltecs but rnode is what lora radio nodes are called in reticulum and heltec devices are supported. e.g. things on https://loramesh.org
lora radio mesh communication

@dexternemrod @pocketvj Ok. For #reticulum #rnode #flashing I use https://liamcottle.github.io/rnode-flasher/
which has many boards and I have tried to link to resources here https://www.loramesh.org/subpages/flashing/flashing.html
or use e.g.
rnodeconf --fw-version 1.82 --autoinstall /dev/ttyACM0
setting the correct ttyACM<n> and version number for your case

@adingbatponder

@pocketvj

That are indeed helpful resources. Thank you for that.

But from my understanding Rnode is "only" in maintenance mode (which was the initial trigger for my question).

@dexternemrod @pocketvj Yes but updates do sneak in .....I think. This can be.monitored via alerts from Github. Strangely I had more problems when the #reticulum stack was being updated because making things backward compatible and compatible with all #meshchat versions was not really achieved if even possible... so now, with the "maintenance mode", so long as you can indeed flash your radios (plural, use two to at least be able to talk to yourself 😂) everyone will be on the same "page".

@adingbatponder

@pocketvj

That's good to know, will monitor the repo.

Aaaaand about the radios ... My wife already has the theory that there is somewhere a Nest and the devices hatch and start living around our house 😉

@dexternemrod @pocketvj No dark cupboards in pairs and / or contrareception or they breed.
