@DenisCOVIDinfoguy

Going meta on this, two possibilities appear to me.

1. BBC is now doing COVID nostalgia.

2. The BBC, as the British government's official public relations outlet, has been told to prep the public for a possible severe respiratory disease outbreak this winter.

1 & 2 are not mutually exclusive.

You got other interpretations?

smh
It is unfortunately clear that claims in interviews made by medical scientists need to be reviewed by a qualified person before publication.

The public need to have confidence in the accuracy of #PublicHealthCommunication.

[7] I would like to make a shoutout to all of those who are working hard in public health communication. I really respect and appreciate those of you, like @luckytran, covering these horrific policies and events. You make sure the public is informed of the facts and how this administration is twisting and breaking the truth to suit their desires.

@MatWright

Trump is making COVID go away from the news.

A strategy that'll go very bad if a severe variant arrives and folk are thrown back on scuttlebutt and social media.

Believable #PublicHealthCommunication does have benefits.

@ScottMGS

I see "immune" in "immune system" and as the root of "immunisation" as dangerous and misleading. Guessing there are historical reasons why this developed and social inertia to it being changed.
But I think the misuse is killing people. And will likely kill many more come the next severe pandemic.

cf "blood thinners"

These two terms are AIUI on the level of fairy tales in terms of clear communication about important health information.

@brianvastag
Here in Oz my age group is being told that vaccination is the main defence against serious #Covid infection.
And to consider a vaccination every 12 months.

I know that vaccination is a strong defence against serious infection.
But it seems beyond weird that I'm only advised to "consider" this "main defence".

"Wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces" seems as "main" a defence as considering a vaccination.

This looks like a failure in #PublicHealthCommunication.

Apologies, this screen interface had me misinterpreting.

Yes, they're acting as if there were no reasonable ways to reduce or prevent deaths and injuries from Covid.

Interesting decision by the Courier Mail to use"Top doctor" instead of "Government" or "Official" or "Chief Health Officer".
Anyone from #Queensland got an opinion about this?

Overall though looks like more of the dangerous "Live With Covid" approach.

#Australia #PublicHealthCommunication

Been to #Bunnngs in #Perth #WesternAustralia four times over last four days.
I'm the only one who has been masked.

The failure in #PublicHealthCommunication and #PublicHealthEducation by the #WAHealthDepartment is blatant.

And now I find if overexcertion by a family member with Covid in prepping for Xmas has resulted in #LongCovid or not.

Feeling like #Cassandra (I warn them, and they don't listen or something.)

Wonder if their (?) absence relates to the openess to vaccine conspiracy fantasies and mask-rejection so recently displayed?

Doubtless something the official #AUCovidInquiry will be looking at. (?)
