The cruise ship hantavirus outbreak is a warning sign to the U.S.

-great piece but I don't subscribe to a theory that America has ever done anything other than chart it's own course rather than be a team player with the WHO. Too slow in responding. Too reliant in centralised testing.

The cruise ship hantavirus outbreak is a warning sign to the U.S.

Leaving the WHO means the U.S. lacks access to necessary information about infectious disease.

"Turn off your damn engine if you're sitting on the side of the road!"

At least one commercial test in this paper appeared to be unsupported by its manufacturer for use on saliva or asymptomatic people. I'm surprised this wasn't picked up by reviewers, given such an obviously PCR-heavy technical paper. Into the weeds I dived...

A recent paper highlights the need for innovative & contextual action in response to lab results. Especially during exceptional times. But I had a few issues with it.

Well, hello!

Just 0.7% of of universally screened asymptomatic patients produced unrepeatable PCR tests

A recent paper entitled "Diagnostic Value and Outcomes of Systematic SARS-CoV-2 Screening in Asymptomatic Patients" highlights the need for innovative contextual actions in response to positive PCR results during exceptional times of novel pathogen spread. More than that, I had a few issues with the paper's key message, which I'm also worried could easily feed into the…

A little virus that still can: poliovirus and poliomyelitis

A few things about poliomyelitis ('polio') and poliovirus, the enterovirus that causes this disease. Source: Immunization Action Coalition.[1] What is Polio? Polio is the name used to describe a paralytic disease. It is caused by
