This glorious piece of Cherry makes me smile so very much, the last of three spoons from this one billet I had, all the rest of the log looks like Cherry I'm used to.
I wonder what's caused this billet to be so different, does anyone know?

Decided unwisely to try and play JS Bach on my mandolin. Much harder than I expected, but lovely nonetheless.
Attached: 3 images The mandolin that was hanging on my grandparents' wall for half a century was left to me by my grandmother. I started a little research and found to my suprise that it must have been built between 1912 and 1919 (!). I had it repaired. I think this is the first time in sixty years that it has the full set of 8 strings. It sounds fantastic.
