Carved in fresh birch, she was supposed to be a blank for a bowl. So there was a hole drilled for the chuck (spelling?), in what later became her cheek. I had to glue in a piece there to sort of hide it. ;)

Die Tradition des Weihnachtsbaumwerfens ist bereits 40000 Jahre alt. Haben nicht schon die Steinzeitler ihre Speere aus Weihnachtsbäumen geschnitzt? Ich verarbeite hier eine containerte Fichte; zwei der Originale aus Schöningen waren auch aus Fichte (in der Eiszeit waren Fichten und Kiefern vorherrschend).

Roughly shaped with the Kalthoff Small Carver, finely carved with Morakniv knifes. (106, 120 and hook 162)

Handcarved scoop part of a ladle made from dry plum wood and treated with linseed oil resting on a knotty large larch board.
The woodpiece was naturally curved (a curved branch) that hinted at the shape of a ladle after splitting it apart.

My very first handcarved spoon from plum wood treated with linseed oil.
Took me quite a long time (fiddled around with it for quite a while) to arrive to this final result. Closed the knots with sandust (using a 80grid from the same wood) and glue (titebond III). After sanding down the spoon in many places, I carved the entire surface again, to give the whole spoon more individual handmade character.

My very first handcarved spoon from plum wood treated with linseed oil.
I found a piece of wood that I had set aside about four years ago and thought was too good to burn. It was already a bit dry and cracked, but managed to carved a spoon out of it freehand. It's simple and not perfectly symmetrical. I had to work around the natural features (branches, warping, wood grain)
Not sure it is more a small long ladle or a bigger long spoon.

I’ve just finished a long ongoing project to make a diagonally divided kerchief with tatted lace. In my humble opinion it turned out basically perfect.

I intend to use it with my #bäckadräkten

It’s got a side for everyday and fancy day wearing (you decide which one you like most) and can also be worn as a miparti.
