Polar lows are no joke.
Many seasoned colleagues didn’t make it to the office.
• Yesterday: -14°, TONS of snow & TONS of shoveling
• Today: wind + snow + terrible visibility. Tons of snow & more shoveling
• Now: wind just started again. Setting alarm early for—wait for it—much more shoveling.

𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘅𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿Classic #Polar and #Arctic #Maritime #Airmass producing many showers over the Atlantic and a great example of a #PolarLow sinking southwards over the North Sea. Fab #meteorology captured by #NOAA18!
Adrian LeyserCheck out this prominent polar low, with a calm eye and several bands of deep convection, as it moves south across the western North Sea. The forecast (ICON here) is still a bit uncertain, though. The small-scale storm field with hurricane-force winds provides a sign. wave height of about 6 meters and thus poses a danger to shipping.
