Survival Mode On! 🌱

Looking at my chili plants, I can totally feel the "survive mode." After pruning them, I'm hoping they’ll save enough energy to come back stronger next year.

Kinda feels like me right now. I've blocked out everything that's not essential until the end of the year so I can focus on finishing some writing. 📝✨

This chili plant looks pretty sad right now and probably won’t make it through the winter.

I'm hoping a few can make it inside. Fingers crossed that most of them survive until our community greenhouse is ready! 🤞

And just in case none of my chilies make it, I’ve got plenty of seeds (Habanero & Ufo), plus a new one: Lemon Drop! Can’t wait to try these – they’re so delicious!

Check out this hilarious pic of a chili plant getting a shower! 🫣 Unfortunately, it was a must due to some pesky lice.

I've found the perfect new home for my chillis: our Community Greenhouse!

We're busy setting up a greenhouse where people can garden together. We've already got a place, we know exactly what kind of greenhouse we want and we've got the green light from the municipality for funding this project.

This week we had our first big meeting and it was so inspiring to see so many enthusiastic people!

Harvesting chillies. Today, we gathered another incredible batch. Remember, though—always wear gloves when handling chillies. A friend thought he could go without, and now his hands are feeling the heat! To soothe the burn, a quick wash with washing-up liquid (no water) followed by Aloe Vera does wonders. 🌶️

I've been growing chilli plants since February and they've been thriving! Now that autumn is here and the temperature is dropping below 10°C at night, I've decided to bring some of the plants into my bedroom to share my space with them. And look how well they're doing! Even though the season is almost over, they've had a boost and the plant is full of ripe chillies!

It's Sunday, which means it's chilli time!

I've just harvested the Ufo chillies and found some little helpers. Amazingly, this snail seems to not mind the capsaicin at all. (Oh, and I used gloves to harvest the chillies!)

Guess what! I harvested another 400g of gorgeous habanero chillies today. I put them in the oven at 60° for 10 hours to dry them out. I'd already pickled the first batch (also 400g) in oil, and they were so good!

I'd absolutely love to hear any great ideas or recipes on how to make a large quantity of chillies keepable.
