4/5: I gotta say that I really like Saisio's style. Elämänmeno (The going of life/ Way of life/Gait of life) was her debut novel and won the J.H. Erkko prize of the best debut novel in 1975. This audiobook was read by her daughter, actress Elsa Saisio, and she did a brilliant job (I could practically taste the tobacco and booze while I was listening). This book is about growing into adulthood, grappling with who and what you are (and perhaps why you are, as well?), trying to find your place in the world. 4/5: This audiobook was read by the author herself and she does it masterfully. I’m not sure what to say except that I LOVED THIS. The story weaves back and forth between Saisio’s memories of her childhood and the shock of the death of her father. It’s filled with momentary glimpses of magical realism, sharp observations of how people should live and yet do not, and while it doesn’t really GO anywhere, it’s such a rich, rich story! Näin muuten #PirkkoSaisio'n #Nokia'n #rautatieasema'lla ratikassa (!). Suurena tähtenä hän ei edes tiennyt olevansa Nokialla, koska kiersi vain #maailmankiertue'ellaan minne agentti käskikin. Tunnistin hänet heti.
