This Friday afternoon, I was watching the #passerines (house sparrows, great tits, blue tits, robins, nuthatches) pecking in the garden, in a hubbub worthy of the most beautiful spring days. And suddenly, it was all gone: no more noise, no more #birds : everyone had disappeared into the hedge. I grabbed my binoculars and spotted a #merlin perched on the branches of an apple tree. A rare sight in a garden! Here it is ... beautiful, isn't it?
