What are my options for parental controls on home internet? For 5 years, we have used some form of Deco (TP Link) mesh system which could be controlled by an app. The application let's us assign devices to our kids, set time limits on weekdays and weekends, set bedtimes, and block particular sites.

A recent update #enshittified this application. Now, all we can control without paying rent is bedtime, but not usage limits.

Do I have to find another company with another potentially enshittifiable application? Or are there recommended standalone applications that could interface with my existing hardware so that I don't generate electronics waste?

As a big KDE fan-blort, I want to say congratulations to all the Gnome contributors. This looks great! Personally I'm still very jealous of how clean and free of excessive borders Gnome has.

I hope that they'll expand the parental controls are expanded to include self restriction that can be incredibly useful for ADHD and other neurotypical folks to avoid excessive use of particular apps / features.
