1) Congress has allowed the The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, CISA 2015, to expire! This law provides legal protections for private organizations to share cyber intelligence with the federal government and each other. CISA stated this is “a serious blow” to federal cyber defenders.
2) CISA was also significantly impacted by furloughs during the current government shutdown, retaining only 35% of its workforce.
So, Cyber Security information sharing is hindered, and federal Cyber Security staffing is down 65%.
