das ist eine gattung mit 442 arten! dem entsprechend ist es schwer zu sagen um welche art genau es sich handelt, möglicherweise D. falcator, unsere freundin hier hatte nämlich eine beachtliche größe, dürften schon ~20mm gewesen sein

I just finished making a new tiny diffuser and headed outside. This amazing girl was sitting on a mango and posing nicely. Despite having my cheapest most underpowered flash on my camera, I'm still pretty happy about the result. This tiny wasp was probably looking for fruit fly larvae.

My newest #Prelights article highlights a #preprint by B. R. Baisla et al. (2025) and their search for morphological #prezygotic #barriers to reduce #hybridization among the species complex of #Nasonia, #parasitoid wasps. Male genital morphology apparently does not prevent hybridization, pre-mating #barriers are still unknown.

woher das 'riesen-' kommt ist mir nicht klar, die war kleiner als eine honigbiene. es gibt wohl noch kleinere blutbienen.
