Jaume Plensa, here on display at the “Art Zuid” art festival, is an artist from Barcelona who is known for his large sculptures of women’s heads with closed eyes, creating a calm, meditative feel. 🗿⚒️🧘🏾‍♀️

His works appear in cities like Dubai, London, Nice, and Tokyo. In Chicago, his Crown Fountain features faces of local residents.

In the south of Amsterdam, squatters have moved into an empty building on Honthorststraat. It belongs to the Russian government and had been unused for a long time. The four-story corner building once housed a Russian tourist office. 😎🏖️

The squatters call themselves international artists who can’t afford housing. In a letter to neighbors, they explain they are from countries like Russia and Ukraine. They believe it’s wrong for such a large building to stay empty. 🇷🇺 🇺🇦 ☮️

The building is known for its location and history. The action has drawn attention from passersby. Tourists can spot it by the posters and signs in the windows, and by the beautiful artworks.🪟🪟🪟

This secondary school in Oud Zuid, Het Amsterdams Lyceum, has been established in 1917. It is providing has both gymasium and atheneum status. The funny thing with this building is its main body built over the (bike) road like a tunnel. The #Hilton #Hotel in Amsterdam is the first hotel in #Amsterdam from an international hotel chain. It was designed in 1958 by architect Hugh Aart Maaskant and was finally opened in 1962. It is famous for the “bed in”, John Lennon and Yoko Ono made during their Honey moon in 1969, just 55 years ago.
