I don't know what this means, but a couple days ago my favorite MapClick.php weather app was using a map served by Esri. Now the tiles are coming from a https://opengeo.ncep.noaa.gov/geoserver/wwa/hazards/ows WMS. We've gone back in time to 2010 #opengeo #openlayers #nws

Anyone know how I get openstreetmap.org to give me English names consistently across the map? Do I need to login?
Seems like it would be useful to detect the localisation of the browser, and provide a button for toggling between displaying names in the local language (which seems to be the default), and displaying in the language indicated by browser localisation.
One of things I'm proud of from my time promoting CreativeCommons Aotearoa/NZ is the releases of LINZ map data under a CC license. Thanks mainly to the fantastic #OpenGeo community here. This could have become another thing we had to pay for (again), like the documentation of those standards. Instead, the whole country has great coverage in Open Street Map, and any other project is free to use a digital map of Aotearoa.
I find it very frustrating that information about public transport routes and stops in Aotearoa aren't easily available in apps that use OSM and other open geographical data (eg OSMAnd+), or the transport apps I can find in F-Droid (eg Transportr).
Also that public transport planners in Aotearoa aren't collaborating on a single app and website, as well as (or instead of) their region-specific ones.
