#PennedPossibilities 1008 — Have you ever had someone translate a story of yours (into another language)?

I'm doing this myself. I'm German and have been writing English stories since I was 16 and lived in the US. In 2018, I wrote my first full English novel (the story wanted to be written in English). In 2021, I had a terrible disc prolapse and was unable to write but could translate. I translated #OfElvesAndWolves for my own entertainment.
Since then, it's become part of my editing process.

#WritersCoffeeClub 3/15. Talk about an experience you had sharing your writing with a group.

I did that once. Read out the first few pages of #OfElvesAndWolves to people who were kind but had been total strangers three weeks ago. It was exhilarating. It was nerve-racking.

They liked it. Some even bought the book and had me sign it. So it was, in retrospect, a good thing.

I'm not sure I could ever do it again.

#WritersCoffeeClub – 31 Dec. Happy New Year! Take pride in what you’ve written and share the progress you've made

#FridaVonHameln hit 30k yesterday and I felt the flow again - for the first time in a long while. Still, I think it'll be one of my shorter books, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

2025: Published 2 books plus translations of my own, 2 for Lotte and #OfElvesAndWolves as a series in addition to the fat trilogy. Wrote 130k of #Kyznon which I may pick up after Frida.

Guten Rutsch!

#WordWeavers 10 Dec: Who is your most chaotic character?

Of all ever created, it's Penelope Martin, Lucie's creative mom. Honestly, she'd starve without her daughter. Lucie learned very early on to organize for the two of them.

What's the funniest thing you've ever written?

I believe my Bina arc of #OfElvesAndWolves is the funniest I've ever written. At least it cheered me up big time when I was writing it.

#WritersCoffeeClub 2 Nov: What makes character growth believable to you?

Either it's a slow change or something truly pivotal happens. In any case, a complete turn is unbelievable - some roots must have been there before, some hints what this character is capable of.

I hope I pulled this off with Noel who grows from a self-absorbed teen into a leader (slowly) or Leander to whom a few truly traumatic things happen.

#ScribesAndMakers 1 Nov What creative project(s) do you hope to work on this month?

I'm having a couple of books on sale now and at the end of this month - so I might talk a little about those. WIP wise, I'm gonna try and rewrite the part that's been bothering me so much.
Otherwise, I might just take a break.

#PennedPossibilities 829 — Is there a noticeable change in the seasons in your WIP’s universe?

Seasons never play a big role in most of my books. Exception is the #OfElvesAndWolves series because Noel is so susceptible to spring.

And Cyn and Lys in #ChasingWildDreams fear winter because they don't know how to keep warm.

I don't really do scary, but reading the responses here reminded me of a dream Lena has in her first book. At least she's scared out of her mind afterward and takes an unfortunate/fortunate decision 😈
