#WritersCoffeeClub Mar 23: What's the most you've worked on a WIP before deciding to scrap it? What happened?

Wellllll.... #Kyznon has about 130k but the jury is still out whether I'm truly scrapping it.
For now, it's just abandoned. And yes, that's the most work I ever put into a project without seeing it through till the end.

Right now, I have no plans apart from getting #FridaVonHameln published and maybe get the translation done, too.

I might revisit #Kyznon.
Or I might start something new.
Or I might take that true break I keep yapping about 😅

#FridaVonHameln hit 30k yesterday and I felt the flow again - for the first time in a long while. Still, I think it'll be one of my shorter books, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

2025: Published 2 books plus translations of my own, 2 for Lotte and #OfElvesAndWolves as a series in addition to the fat trilogy. Wrote 130k of #Kyznon which I may pick up after Frida.

Aus #FridaVonHameln ? Vermutlich keiner.

Bei #Kyznon hingegen ist es klar: Sowohl Kyz als auch Teilin kämen raus, vorausgesetzt, ihre Gefängniswärter wüssten nichts über ihr Talent.
Und vielleicht sogar dann.

Nope. Jetzt, wo ich mit #FridaVonHameln angefangen habe, liegt #Kyznon erstmal auf Eis.
Habe ich noch nie gekonnt. Arbeiten, ja, im Sinne von für die Veröffentlichung etc. vorbereiten, aber nicht schreiben.
Keine Chance.

Falls du es verraten möchtest: Was steht auf Seite 10 in Zeile 15 deines aktuellen/letzten Projekts?

Weil“, sagte er mit Nachdruck, „wilde Magie in diesem Ausmaß selten und äußerst nützlich ist. Und weil jeder Magika, der erfährt, wozu ihr in der Lage seid, euch besitzen wollen wird.“

Sitze wieder an #Kyznon und finde es weitaus weniger schlecht, als ich dachte. Hm.

I'm having a couple of books on sale now and at the end of this month - so I might talk a little about those. WIP wise, I'm gonna try and rewrite the part that's been bothering me so much.
Otherwise, I might just take a break.

Show don’t Tell, ein ewiges Mantra. Wie stellst du dar, dass deine Figur gelangweilt ist, ohne es zu benennen oder von der Figur benennen zu lassen?

Für mich ist das eine dieser 'Regeln', die mal passen & mal nicht. Manchmal passt tell viel besser als show.
Der 1. Satz von #Kyznon ist derzeit: "Kyz langweilte sich."
Und sicher könnte ich schreiben "Kyz gähnte, kratzte sich an der Nase und starrte sinnlos duch den Saal, hoffend, dass es bald vorbei war", aber...

Hat eine oder mehrere deiner Figuren eine Standard-Phrase, oder tut sie immer wieder was Bestimmtes, dass sie unverwechselbar macht?

Keine Phrase - solange es nicht so kultig ist wie "Ich liebe es, wenn ein Plan funktioniert" nervt mich das eher.

Bei #Kyznon habe ich ein paar Eigenarten - Naynah streckt ihr Kinn vor, Kyz schnauft, Teilin kaut auf ihrer Lippe - aber das vermischt sich gerade.
