New at my Patreon... I catch a train from Dunedin along a beautiful coastline to Oamaru - where steampunk-infused Victorian-era architecture lies in wait:

Mon Dieu! For some reason this is turning into an annual tradition ๐Ÿป #Untappd tells that the last time I had this one was 1 year ago-ish, almost on the same day.

This Belgian Dubbel by Craftwork tastes great: sweetness, dried fruit and almonds. Def need to order this one more often. Why wait until April 2027? ๐Ÿ˜†

What a lovely Sunday here, pleasant 2k walk to the beach and back, just gorgeous. #Oamaru

Long time no see, Poodlefaker.
Another tasty brew by Craftwork ๐Ÿป A must-visit when in #Oamaru โœ… Add it to your Kiwi #RoadTrip

"Saison Poodlefaker is our Christmas beer. It is ruby-coloured , and balanced with noble hops, liberally spiced, and Southern Rata honey added at the end of the boil.
In Belgium, Christmas beers are rich and heavy for the cold months. Ours is lighter for a N.Z. summer Christmas."

Today's good news story from NZ involves little blue penguins (kororฤ). I don't know what's in the water, but the Oamaru colony is having a bumper breeding season.

They'll break the previous record of 570 chicks in a season. So far 440 chicks have fledged and another 300 are ready to pop out. Penguins for everyone!

Go little kororฤ!

Does anyone have a good source for #knitting #wool (merino or merino blend) in #nz ? Something nice to work with and wear, good for a novice, and reasonably priced. I'll need about 800g of 8-10ply. I'm planning on making a sweater and the pattern calls for gauge of 10 cm on a 4.5 mm needle = 18 stitches. I've looked at some at #RibbonRose and at a shop when I was in #Oamaru. I really like some of them but I don't have much experience and having a hard time justifying the cost.
