Thinking about repurposing old phones as servers. Would it be possible to add an extremely low power pcb which switches USB power on/of? So by discharging them regularly the OG phone batteries keep on working safely? This would allow phones to charge during the day on solar & using the battery at night.

Mark Kadela, another attendant of Open Hardware Meetup, showed his concept all terrain vehicle, zee-two, that he has been working on for over 6 years.
We are told that it is a working prototype (able to reach 5 km/h in theory). Most of the parts are 3D printed and would break before reaching the speed the controller or the batteries could provide. Since it is not road safe, he could not demo it. Instead of building a 16 kg battery assembly, current battery is a fancy box for a couple electric lawn mower batteries.

I'm pretty sure that they'll work as my prototype did, but there's still some chance I made a mistake in KiCAD and will have to make yet another revision before it has real USB-C support. Time will tell.

So there you have it. A behind the scenes look at hardware development and how I'm pushing to make this tech more accessible to people and adding native support for USB-C.
