@mwl

yes, plenty, look at the #ONVIF standard. i think that s what you are looking for (?).
these cams might *also* come with an app, but no need to use it.

at the cheap end of the spectrum, many tp-link cams (vigi, tapo) support it.

I've never seen a project apparently used so much, yet be so poorly documented and with so few tutorials.

I've been messing with gsoap for going on 3 days. I still cannot get everything compiling and linking. And the only tutorials I can find are extremely trivial.

Where are the instructions or tutorial showing a _real_ setup, including the steps required to get SSL+wsse working? #gsoap #linux #onvif

Looking into Onvif and gSoap for the first time. Onvif is a standard protocol to access security cameras.

I downloaded the xsd files for 4 modules out of a possible 27. The C++ source code gSoap generates for these 4 is 546380 lines long!

Trying to get everything building and linking is tough. Doesn't help that this is needed for some older Debian 11 devices. #soap #cpp #onvif

Nutzt hier jemand #ZoneMinder und kann mir für den Privatgebrauch eine kompatible Kamera empfehlen?
Ich stelle keine besonders hohe Ansprüche, was Qualität betrift. Es sollten aber Katzen auch bei schlechtem Licht erkennbar (und unterscheidbar) sein.
Bildübertragung per WiFi wäre toll, ist aber kein unbedingtes Muss.
Indoor Nutzung
Taugt die TP-Link Tapo C220 (oder 225) was? Die würde mir zumindest vom Preis her gefallen.
Gibt es da Datenschutzbedenken? (Wenn ich Alexa/Google kompatibel lese, klingeln bei mir Alarmglocken)

I tried #Frigate today & OMG it is so much easier to configure than #Shinobi. I even connected it to #HomeAssistant! So I removed Shinobi from my server & will move forward with frigate as my #NVR.

Now I just need to return the #Amcrest cam that misleadingly advertises #ONVIF support but really only means partially, in its own app. #Reolink #P1Zoom will probably be my next trial since I confirmed it is ONVIF profile T verified.

I know that’s gibberish to most. It was to me 3 weeks ago. 🤷‍♂️

Discovered the #ONVIF conformant list today, and #Amcrest isn't on it. That's probably why I can't get my ONVIF cam to integrate into #Shinobi, because Amcrest's claims to be ONVIF conformant are not certified. 🙄
#Reolink and #TPLink are on there, though 👀

So finally after many, many fruitless searches figured out how to get the #Reolink back to working with #Unifi Protect after moving cameras to their own separate VLAN. Protect wasn’t seeing the #ONVIF flag despite working when all was on the default VLAN. Had seen reference to an Advanced Adoption but couldn’t find it. Finally did. Worked first time. So much time wasted on Firewall policies and turning off and on various settings.

In my continual pursuit to have as many hobbies as possible, I've been working with the #Thingino devs to bolster their firmware for the #wyzecamv3's.

If you're not familiar, Thingino is a standalone firmware for #Ingenic #t20 & #t31 based cameras. Instead of running an overlay that runs in ramdisk, these directly overwrite (while creating a backup) the original firmware with their own including standard camera features such as an #RTSP & #ONVIF server, a decent web interface, PTZ features (where applicable), night/day detection and integration for motion detection and lots of integrations such as mqtt, telegram etc.

It sprung out of several other projects (e.g. #gtxaspec's wz_mini) and has compatibility with a great number of Ingenic camera platforms.

Unfortunately, the newer Ingenic cameras include secureboot so they won't boot unless you replace the soc with one that doesn't have it enabled, which is beyond most folks capabilities/desires. Nevermind sourcing the SOC.

I'm pondering pulling out my oscilloscope and trying to glitch one of the t41 based cameras to try recovering it's key 😶
