Geekpi's 10 inch 8U rack is on sale right now for Amazon's Black Friday week, if anyone has been wanting to buy it.

No this is not an affiliate link, I just bought one myself and thought I'd share.

Do you ever have to rerun cables that no one will ever see just so you know they’re optimized and organized?

My too.

Here’s the result.

Ok Mastodon peeps, what are some other fun items to add to my network rack?

I have all the basics (UPS, switch, patch panel, NAS , tool drawer) and some not-so-basics (Pi cluster, Mac mini cluster , HDHomeRun).

Send me your oddest, simplest, and wildest ideas!

Progress on my DIY network rack. *equipment in rack for illustration purposes only, stuff I had lying around and accessible. #diy #networkrack

Always a bunch of effort making changes to this rack but it's operational again now.

I removed the F5 BIG-IP and put an actual shelf in there now.

I still can't decommission the QNAP TS-453A because I now need to RMA the QNAP TS-464U because Bay 3 has a dead MOSFET. So much for the HDD RMA...

Anyway, this is my last change before MFF!

The new 1U storage server arrived today and a FortiGate rackmount kit so I installed them both today.

Unfortunately one of the new 18TB EXOS drives was Dead-on-Arrival, heads were banging constantly. So I shipped it off to SeaGate for an RMA. Was hoping to migrate files but that is now delayed.

I'm still waiting on a new shelf to arrive since the old one is no longer compatible with the new rack post positioning. Also, the QNAP B-02 rails annoy me because while both the rails and server internally fit perfectly inside the cabinet, the rear of the rails sticks out so I had to remove the rear door.

Also ordered some thin patch leads since the normal ones clog up the cable managers.

It's evolving into using more space efficient rack-mount equipment, slowly.
