#metronorth locomotive 4905 pulls into #ramsey #ramseyroute17 #trainstation pulling an outbound train. Due to an interesting working agreement between #njtransit and #mta Metro North, this NJTransit line continues north into New York State and serves some Metro North stations, and the consists use Metro North and NJTransit rolling stock (the Comet V coach cars have both NJTransit and Metro North liveries). #train #trains #railfan #railfanning

On Tuesday I went on an hour long car ride all the way up to the northern NJ/NY state border to visit Ramsey Route 17 station. A new park-n-ride built by #NJTransit underneath NJ state route 17, near I-280. A humongous parking garage (with a convenient payment system that automatically charges you based on your license plate) and beautiful overpass are placed next to this two-track unelectrified line south to Hoboken, #NJ and North to Port Jervis, #NY #train #trains #trainstation

Fun fact: another light rail station was renamed from Broad St. to Military Park when the new line from Newark Penn Station to Newark Broad St. was opened. Today, under the lovely sunset, I visited Newark Broad St. station for the first time. It was a beautiful station with three tracks. It had a certain “homely” quality, with its open air platforms and tower, compared to Newark Penn Station with its 6 tracks and underground mezzanine. The open-air setting allowed me to gaze at the #newark skyline and the traffic on I-280. #train #trains #trainstation #trainstations #railfan #railfanning #njtransit #newjersey
