Today we are heading to Roseville to see the world’s largest steam engine. It seemed appropriate to ride the train to get there so we are taking the first two hours of the California Zephry from Emeryville, on its cross-country run to Chicago. #amtrak #bigboy4014

Our trip home from Santa Barbara has gone slightly awry. We were booked on the Coast Starlight, but it’s been cancelled - some kind of mechanical issue in San Luis Obispo. They rebooked us on the Surfliner, so it’s a really just a teeny tiny hassle for us, but man oh man, I feel for the folks stuck in SLO. #amtrak

Off to Pittsburgh to visit friends for the weekend!! While I do kinda miss the Capital Limited route, the Floridian has real dining as opposed to the reheated food so that’s a nice perk. Also the Viewliners have way better climate control… Superliners seem to always run warm.

I’m on a train! Coast Starlight, to be exact. Only up to Santa Barbara, but it’s still a lovely ride. It’s really full - lots of people opting for train instead of plane, I guess. #train #Amtrak
