The ballot has a page for county party candidates for precinct committeeperson. Yes, that is a word on the ballot. Oregon is very inclusive.

There are 33 openings. All but 5 are write-in. None of the 5 are familiar to me. I can't write-in anyone as a surprise (Surprise! You get to go to meetings!) because they'd have to file SEL 105D by 8PM on the 19th, and get 3 votes. For write-in candidates with zero information about them (or the rest, for that matter), that seems unlikely. Not the best way to collect party committeepersons, imho.

Darn.

5 potential committeepersons want to do this? Okay, I'll vote for you. If any are Republicans in disguise, I'll haunt your dreams.

I got my ballot.

The only Democratic candidate for governor to submit their info for the booklet appears to be Governor Kotek. The other 9 Democrats on the ballot apparently said, "Nah, really, vote for Tina." All declined. There are 14 Republicans in opposition. The one with the most name recognition might be Christine Drazan. I just felt a sudden chill.

The first candidate whose glossy PR has arrived in my mailbox is a candidate for a county judge position, Laura Rowan. A nice pitch, a familiar framing of a candidate in this area, and she has some solid endorsements. The early bird.

The relocated #MultnomahCounty Library's Northwest branch is going to open up this weekend with two days of events.

Looking at the two small photos, they've opted to expose portions of the concrete floor and seal it, which is always a fun thing to do with old warehouses. Lots of different options for seating. Too bad they don't have a coffee shop attached to it.

Will have to check it out on Monday of next week...don't like crowds.

In retrospect, it might not have been the best idea to tie the funding of #homeless services to income in #MultnomahCounty, since while the economy craters, money coming in will dive just as the need soars.

Weakness in Multnomah County Economy Will Hold Back Homeless Services Tax Collections, Metro Says

It’s the second forecast showing that the economic center of the metro area is the weak spot in tax revenues.

Willamette Week

Yay, they have an opening date for the northwest branch of the #MultnomahCounty library: January 10, 2026. Not sure I'm going there over that weekend; too busy with in-library events.

This is going to be an amazing location. It's just 2 blocks from the #PDX Streetcar stop, 2 blocks away from New Seasons, and across the street a future park.

Multnomah County just sent out an emergency alert to cellphones. I have received their warbling alert o' text.

6th time being summoned for jury duty, 6th time being dismissed before actually, you know, jurying anything.

🤷‍♀️

This time was extra surprising. The _entire_ jury pool was excused without a single name being called, for both today and tomorrow.

Are there really no trials happening in #MultnomahCounty that need jurors?
