Wow. This is a picture of Mount St Helens (Loowit). The website says it's a current USGS livestream, but that looks like morning, not evening.

Either way, it's absolutely stunning.

#MtStHelens

From a hike I did with friends to the top of Mt. St. Helens (Loowit) in Aug. 2000. Itโ€™s an amazing journey I hope to do someday with my kiddo. I grew up in the shadow of this and other nearby volcanoes and was barely a toddler when she blew. It has absolutely shaped my love for geology and the natural world.

An earthquake took the #MtStHelens eruption to the next level on #ThisDayInHistory in 1980. It triggered one of the largest landslides ever, with a massive explosion and #PyroclasticFlow. I was just a kid but have clear memories of it. 57 people died and the area was transformed.

Today is the 46th anniversary of the first time I played D&D (May 18, 1980).

"Construction set nearly 3 years after massive landslide wipes out road to Mount St Helens" by KATU News (ABC Portland) - Construction resumes next week to rebuild the missing section of Washington SR504 that was swept away in a landslide 3 years ago. The area is a challenge, built on debris from 1980 #MtStHelens eruption. Road & bridge construction should be done this Fall, allowing USFS to repair Johnston Ridge Observatory for re-opening in 2027. https://katu.com/news/local/construction-set-nearly-3-years-after-massive-landslide-wipes-out-road-to-mount-st-helens-spirit-lake-johnston-ridge-observatory-sr-504-highway #PNW #volcano #geology
