This is absolutely eye-opening. As a technophile, I have been looking forward to mIDs for the sole purpose of limiting what people can see while still validating your credentials. If "selective disclosure" isn't fully baked, and mIDs can effectively only be used at government checkpoints, they aren't delivering on the one thing they were designed for and, in fact, make it possible for the state to cease your phone.

Parliamentary elections coming up in Estonia on March 5. Estonias can vote electronically since 2005. This adds the diaspora. One needs to have either ID-card with pins (& ID-card reader) or Mobile-ID with pins. Shame that Smart-ID (#splitkey) cannot be used yet, neither can you vote in mobile (only in computer).
