What’s two well behaved cycling chihuahuas supposed to do?

We were told politely to leave the Coburg RSL club this evening where the local Merribek Bicycle User Group was meeting. We are both honorary members of this group and have attended multiple past meetings in the beer garden in warmer weather.

We would have stayed peacefully on a lap, as we are well behaved climate anxiety therapy dogs. Our 8 🐾 would have never touched the carpet.

Instead we had to cycle home and miss the meeting. We love all our cycling friends, but feel a bit sad the RSL have such outdated rules against lap sitting therapy dogs. Looks like no Winter BUG cycling meetings for us. 😹 - 🐶🐶 Juliet and Indiana Jones

Long day for us in the basket today: 35 km round the #CapitalCityTrail + 14km from Fawkner to start/end point of Moreland Station for @MerribekBUG social ride.
Now we’ve joined the #Couchpeloton for the night.

Today we went on a 53km cycle with #Merribek Bicycle User group up the Yarra Valley in Melbourne. We stopped and looked at some signs with Arthur Streeton landscape paintings near the place they were painted.

Perhaps this is our path to become art critics?

It’s been 30 years since a few cyclists known as the Brunswick Bicycle Group (now #MerribekBUG ) got together to concrete a small section of the #MerriCreekTrail near CERES environmental park. Now the concrete shared-use trail managed by #MerribekCouncil stretches 21km from Dights Falls to the M80 in #Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

Never underestimate the actions of a few people to create change.

We attended the Merribek Bicycle User Group meeting last night. I had a table side position with Dad while Juliet chilled in the basket. There was talk about Council’s Open Space Strategy, Moving Around Merribek Strategy, Sydney Rd Street Party, Brunswick Skyrail, hearing about rejuvenation of Moonee Valley BUG, asking what new Active Transport Minister Gabrielle Williams has done so far in her portfolio. Indiana Jones 🐶🐶

By way of #Introduction, we are two very precocious Chihuahuas engaged in #LifeInFawkner in #Merribek and navigating and philosophising our way through the Anthropocene. We are also foundational members of #ChihuahuasForClimateAction and are honourary members of local cycling advocacy group #MerribekBUG.

We take our human carer cycling just about everyday - he really does need the regular exercise. And we are happy to go to the dog park to send and receive our peemails.
