Tapinder Q.Quando vedo questi progetti mi chiedo sempre quanto potrebbero essere performanti i nostri OS e software se non fossero scritti da cani. Magari in javascript wrappato in una webview che solo per partire ti toglie 300 mega dalla RAM!

Party Sam@markearnest May I recommend KolibriOS (for weekend fun)? Really impressive, super tiny and written entirely in x86 asm.
Another project that comes to mind is SymbOS – its main purpose was to demonstrate that an OS with "look & feel" of Windows 95 is possible to run on 8-bit (Z80) computers of the 1980s.
Screenshots of SymbOS running on Amstrad CPC are presented below.
