I have been on a marathon watch of Legends of Tomorrow, so it is no surprise that I dreamed I was on the Waverider.
In the dream I was quite hungry, so ate a Meat Pie that I discovered in the fridge. It was quite tasty.
Afterwards I discovered that the Legends had recently investigated Sweeney Todd.

Food adventures continue!

As I had done a lime pie for Belize already, when we decided to do a meal and a dessert for each country, I had a savory dish to make up.

Belize is represented by Belizean Meat Pies.

For this recipe, I made three spice blends: Maggi Consomme Powder (used on sautéed spinach for lunch and so good), Lawry’s Seasoned Salt, and Red Recado (Achiote or Annatto Paste). One of my favourite things about this adventure has been the impact on my spice rack. These pies were delicious. I usually err on the side of caution when rolling out pastry, so my crusts are a little thicker than the pictures that came with the recipe, but still tasty and flaky. I made extra filling – it went beautifully with pasta for lunch. This was enjoyed by everyone!

After 24 years of vegetarianism, I have finally found a #MeatPie #recipe that I can easily make #vegetarian and that tastes exactly like the meat pies I used to get as a kid back in #Australia at local corner shops.

My meat eating Danish family have also finally gotten to taste a true blue, #aussie classic.

For those interested, it's the pie recipe in this video by #NatsWhatIReckon and to make it veg, I just substituted plant-based mince, veggie stock and veg worcestershire sauce:

Pie Face opened their first stores in Japan in late 2015 and for years had four stores across various cities, with the one in Kyoto Station being an extension on the front of the Mister Donut.

At the end of 2021 they dropped one store, then another in 2022 and another in 2023. The writing was on the wall when the renovation of the Mister Donut at Kyoto Station removed the Pie Face kiosk. Now, Pie Face Japan is no more.

Sad news from Kyoto!

My Japanese friend sends word that Pie Face will no longer be available at the Mister Donut in Kyoto Station, as of tonight 🥲

He’d always get some of their meat pies when he was passing through, and this evening he’s gone there from Nagoya just to have some, one last time! The photos he sent of the line seems to indicate he’s not the only one who’s going to miss them!
