Two nights ago, I finally got to meet a Japanese friend who I’ve known online for more than 23 years.
We ran fan sites for Kevin Moore (former keyboardist of Dream Theater) and his band Chroma Key and first chatted via ICQ, but neither of us can remember the exact details! 😅
It was so great to meet face to face after all this time!
Also it snowed, which was a delight (but bad for recovery efforts in the earthquake areas 😕)

My Japanese friend sends word that Pie Face will no longer be available at the Mister Donut in Kyoto Station, as of tonight 🥲
He’d always get some of their meat pies when he was passing through, and this evening he’s gone there from Nagoya just to have some, one last time! The photos he sent of the line seems to indicate he’s not the only one who’s going to miss them!

Pie Face opened their first stores in Japan in late 2015 and for years had four stores across various cities, with the one in Kyoto Station being an extension on the front of the Mister Donut.
At the end of 2021 they dropped one store, then another in 2022 and another in 2023. The writing was on the wall when the renovation of the Mister Donut at Kyoto Station removed the Pie Face kiosk. Now, Pie Face Japan is no more.
