"for a while I was wondering why i'm getting all these boosts then i found this link..."

Saw this and had to perform due diligence and now have #NoTagsPub on my Profile, and I've Domain Blocked the entire @tags.pub domain

Was completely unsurprised to see Evan #MaxiFedi Prodromou all over the #Github pages -- he's never imagined a #Fediverse too big or one that shouldn't suck up anything any bright-eyed programmer can figure out how to vacuum up

So, yeah

Once again, thanks but no thanks

I'll curate my own content, thank you very much

"While these feeds can be useful on smaller, topical or regional servers, they have limited use on larger servers like ours."

Maybe, just maybe:

1) @Mastodon shouldn't be so gargantuan in the first place, and

2) Maybe y'all shouldn't be directing every possible newcomer within your grasp *to* Mastodon dot Social?

Ya think?

Nah, how silly of me

Whatever am I even thinking?

@ophiocephalic

Ah yes...

Mr #EvanProdromou

Or Mr #MaxiFedi as I like to call him

Willing to concede anything to expand his universe infinitely, consequences be damned

Pretty easy to see who's been pushing #FediForum: The #MaxiFedi crowd

@fediforum

Pretty weird that this is publicized as being about the #Fediverse but there's not anyone from any #ActivityPub distribution mentioned

Docktorow, Masnick from the techy rag Techdirt, Evan #MaxiFedi Prodromou from WC3, Cottle from Threads, and Paul Frazee from Bluesky

Anyone missing you can think of?

I sure can

Not going to fight with you because I value your perspectives

If Prodromou is under any "pressure" it's entirely of his own creation, pushing himself out front as #MaxiFedi lead

He has always been "this snippy" -- he's blocked me at least three times on other instances and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he blocks me again just to punish me

Again

He's so full of himself I'm surprised he doesn't float away any time he walks outside during anything more than a light breeze

@Raccoon

I probably shouldn't bother saying anything about any part of this #SocialWebFoundation thing, but IMO it's basically a creation of #EvanProdromou, Mr #MaxiFedi himself, someone who has never seen a #Fediverse either too large or too over-marketed

Also see: #EugenGargron, #MarkZuckerberg

It's fine for all the hardcore Fediverse expansionists, but what will it do for individual users?

Very little

Except bring in #Meta and #Bluesky

So now I've said enough

Which, regarding this topic and past experience with mods on instances I've left behind, may once again prove to be too much

@evan

That's pretty condescending

One can understand the statement, and not support it

Which includes not supporting a poll that, tacitly, supports the current background behind the statement

"All the things one learns. Vint Cerf talked about "permissionless innovation" (in quotes!) that the internet as a whole enables in an editorial for the NYTimes in 2012."

Interesting (and perhaps telling) that you provide a link that requires the #NewYorkTimes' permission for me to read

Which I will never receive, because I don't subscribe

Also interesting about how many learned #Fediverse debates require re-using or re-defining words already in common usage

Keeps the discussion within the #WalledGarden(tm) of the select few, while everyone else goes "What the hell are they on about now?"

Of course, since I've replied to the cloned copy of your original post from over on #Threads, here on Mastodon, you'll never see it

Guess #Gargron and #Zuckerberg haven't settled on the correct set of permissions for you to see my Mastodon reply back over on Threads

Sorta ironic, no?
