Somebody recently used the term "permissionless" to describe the innovation that is possible in the open social network called the #Fediverse. (I forgot who, sadly.)

That term might be borrowed from the crypto crowd, but it appears applicable.

Any thoughts on adopting this term for the Fediverse, too? I'd like to, I think it's apt.

Interesting (and perhaps telling) that you provide a link that requires the #NewYorkTimes' permission for me to read

Which I will never receive, because I don't subscribe

Also interesting about how many learned #Fediverse debates require re-using or re-defining words already in common usage

Keeps the discussion within the #WalledGarden(tm) of the select few, while everyone else goes "What the hell are they on about now?"

Of course, since I've replied to the cloned copy of your original post from over on #Threads, here on Mastodon, you'll never see it

Guess #Gargron and #Zuckerberg haven't settled on the correct set of permissions for you to see my Mastodon reply back over on Threads

Sorta ironic, no?
