Thanks to @NoRomBasic, whose 2nd #Mastodoniversary is today, we’re recognizing Bicycling Monterey’s #Mastodon anniversary too, 7 Nov 2022.
We were surprised that--so quickly!--we did not miss the bird site. We do miss its search features and also miss many individuals and organizations we interacted with there (most haven’t popped up here, or are rarely active, or have only a bird site replica account, which we ignore).
Despite missing those folks and the search features, we’ve no regrets for switching. And we're grateful for the labor of @seb and other techs running the instance we came to, #SFBA. We wouldn’t trade them for a billion Mr Xs.

PSA - Today is my #Mastodoniversary 🎉
Two years ago I moved on from the 🐦 and landed on Mastodon.World, as the inn at .Social was full-up and not accepting new accounts.
This has worked out well as the folks running this instance are a terrific bunch I am thankful for all of their efforts in keeping it real.
It's quieter here, but much more fun. And sometimes playing the long-game is worth it. 🤞

Grateful to be in a place where not only and most importantly, there is civil discourse, but it’s a safe space for women and LGBTQAI+ communities.
Seriously, not having to deal with political and health misinformation has been of huge positive impact to my mental health, & it doesn’t hurt having made some friends along the way.
