Today was my Fediversary - 8 years ago, I thought I'd try that Mastodon thing out, and made an account over on mastodon.social. I'd never really been a Twitter user before that, but posted a few times there. (I only deleted my account there in the last year.)
Since then switched instances, and learned about the greater Fediverse, and it's been a lot of fun. This place isn't perfect, but we are in control, and I actually use it. I feel like I have a niche here.

One of the first things I posted back on my original Dot Social account was this:
"As someone who posts some of the most random, goofy things on Twitter, I'm asking you to join me in helping make Mastodon weird."
It's still true.
My 4th Fediversary was this past Saturday, April 25th.
At the time, I started our with an account on Mastodon Dot Social after fleeing from Twitter. I do not regret leaving.
Being on a smaller Instance has been better. Better moderation, overall, for the most part. And I've been enjoying separating my manga / anime / music content from my video game posts over at @mdmrn. This is new, for me, but I've been enjoying it. It keeps the two lists a little more focused.
Anyway, here's to many more years on the Fediverse.
