At last! A Queenstown slumlord has been fined a total of $81,050 for a series of deliberate and ongoing breaches of most tenancy regulations.

That's only a couple of week's income for Conrad Goodger who claimed he'd been targeted by MBIE. He operated eight boarding houses, four of them unlawfully.

While Luxon's tax cuts for landlords would've made this person even wealthier, maybe he's learned that sticking up a metaphorical finger to investigators wasn't such a good idea.

"Immigration Border Operations staff will go on strike on New Year’s Eve at 6am, joining 3000 staff from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) after being “insulted” by the ministry’s zero pay offer."

New Zealand Defence Force civilian staff are also on strike after being offered a similar zero pay increase in these inflationary times.
