I want to take a moment to thank all the game devs that:
- release their games on more stores than just Steam (specially GOG and itch.io), and support all of them equally
- release their games DRM-free
- have native Linux builds of their game that work just as well as the Windows builds (macOS too, but I recognize that Apple makes this much harder than it should be)
- worry about performance and work so their games can run well on old and/or weak hardware
- implement lots of options settings
- build their game to be moddable
- open source their game's code
Any of these things are highly appreciated. Thank you for not only bringing your art to fruition, but also for the hard work of having it be more accessible to everyone. There's been many times where, because the devs went out of their way to ensure a number of these, I was able to play and enjoy their game despite less than ideal conditions on my part.
@ity @condret my criticism is not re: software versions in detail, but rather that many benchmarking and comparison videos are either using unrealistic high-end setups the average #WageWorker can't afford and/or are setup as #RageBait content!
- With #Greedflation kicking into higher gear than ever in our lifetimes up to this point, more #LowSpecGaming & #BudgetBuilds should be accounted for, espechally when a modern "midrange" PC can cost more than a brand-new 50cm³ scooter…
