London Grey Herons are the earliest to nest, some laying before Christmas! There maybe tiny chicks protected by the female here. It's a calculated risk... the longer chicks have to grow & learn the more chance they'll survive winter 26/27. But must first survive the current cold 🧊 #LondonBirds 🪶

Every wishes you all a Heronful Christmas! May your days be Fishful 💙 Christmas 1728 there was a "Great Staring" as a mysterious being landed upon the very top of St Paul's Cathedral (other reports say it remained for a day) #LondonBirds
Anyone else have clearer photos of the mature Grey Heron that hangs out by the cafe in #BatterseaPark #LondonBirds? It's a ring on 💍 its right leg, which will tell us where it came from. 🪶 #Ukbirds Asking for Heroneer Ian and Every!

Distant but a nice #raptor interaction when one of the local pale juvenile Common buzzards chased a Hobby over north London today. #LondonBirds #Birding #BirdWatching
