Excellent day at WWT London Wetland Centre yesterday. Local moaned there “wasn’t much about” while I was thrilled by the variety showing well. So what if peewits were the only waders in evidence and while there were many other herons the bittern didn’t show? Familiarity breeds contempt I guess.
Good views of sandmartins going in and out of their holes, a little egret stirring the water to fish, and photographing a kingfisher, were highlights.

Am Sonntag, 1. März, fand das erste Urban Birding 2026 statt. Vom Ausflug in die Elfenau liessen sich über 30 Personen begeistern. Während der Kleiber bereits mit dem Höhlenbau beschäftigt war, sangen viele Vögel schon inbrünstig. Wir konnten fast 40 verschiedene Vogelarten bestaunen. Besonders gefiel uns der nicht häufige Kleinspecht und die Wasseramsel. Auch zeigten sich uns die nordischen Schwanzmeisen (caudatus) mit weissem Kopf.
