In the UK, the Tories didn't learn much from their July election disaster. This week they eliminated the best qualified and most sensible candidate from their leadership contest to replace Rishi Sunak.

Jenrick and Badenoch seem to be in a game of Ludicriousness Chicken with each serving more batshit stuff than the other. Badenoch must've thought she had it sewn up with huge numbers of Civil Servants should be in prison, some cultures are less valid and New mothers have it too good, but Jenrick responded with "My daughter's middle name is Thatcher in honour of the great beast"
How is one to compete with that?
Tugendhat exists.
For the bemused outsiders, yes, the long running Tory leadership contest is still going strong... well...
It's down to four candidates. James Cleverly seems to have reached his limit on awfulness. That's not to say he's a decent example of humanity or anything, just that he's reached a limit.
"Humza Yousaf elected leader of Scottish National party."
Qualified relief *wipes bead of sweat from brow*. The unionist press are trying to delegitimize the win, but it's worth noting that when Leavers won by 52% to 48% in 2016, they interpreted it as a clear mandate. No surprise at the hypocrisy. I'm just hoping Humza Yousaf doesn't give too much away to appease the #Forbists and #Reganites.
