Recently, the LHC began its first lead-lead collisions for #LHCRun3, known to be the heavy ion run for physics after 5 years.

I had a lot of fun chasing the voyage of lead ions and producing this video from 5 different locations (#CERN Control Centre and control rooms of the 4 LHC experiments) in one week — some through smart coordination and some through physical work carrying equipment, filming, interviewing, editing and well, you know the drill.

It's collision time!

The ATLAS Experiment at @CERN recorded its first 13.6 TeV collisions of 2023! This marks the start of a new data-taking harvest for the experiment and an exciting continuation of the #LHCRun3 programme.

New(s) splash! 🎆

This morning, beams of protons from the #LHC splashed inside the ATLAS experiment at @CERN. Physicists use these splashes to test ATLAS sub-detectors and to synchronise them with the LHC clock – getting the experiment ready for #LHCRun3.

Yesterday, the ATLAS Experiment recorded its first beam-splash tests of 2023. These tests use a single bunch of protons from the LHC to shower the ATLAS experiment with particles – lighting up the sub-detectors to test their operation.

I was up and out early this morning for a 7am start on my first @CMSexperiment shift of the year! And not a trainee this time, now I'm the one responsible for the safety of all the #CMSexperiment detector systems, as well as all the people underground.
